What does mediation have to do with operations?
If your goal is to work less and make more, it has the power to change everything.
Almost every successful entrepreneur I've talked to or read about does one thing: Meditate.
And lately, my #1 goal has been to create more spaciousness in my life and business so a daily practice of meditation has been imperative. But you don't have to sit for an hour and clear your thoughts like a monk. In fact, this would probably be counter-productive for me since I'd likely fall back asleep. You can do a mindfulness mediation practice in any amount of time and through various methods.
I like to do one as soon as I sit down at my desk, before I do the LEADER exercise.
Here is a little acronym that I follow that helps me remember how to slow down, reflect, and act with intention so I can make more and work less:
PRIME (as in, it's Time to Rise and PRIME):
P: Pause - Create the spaciousness in your schedule to Pause. Focusing on your breath is a great way to Pause.
R: Reflect - This is a great time to think about what you are grateful for or what you want to improve from yesterday.
I: (set an) Intention - Create an intention for your day. Use "I am" statements.
M: (repeat a) Mantra - Chose one word or phrase that will act as an affirmation for the day. Say it 3 times, then repeat it throughout the day.
E: Enjoy - Think of the joy makers in your life. Breath in to create openness and enjoyment in your chest. Breath out and release the pent up frustrations or anxieties you're holding in.
Put this in your calendar as a daily habit you commit to, just for the week and see if it helps PRIME your day for success and spaciousness.
If you're doing this in the morning, it is a great exercise to pair with the LEAD method to get out of the weeds and create intentional act as a Time Rich LEADER (need a refresher? Read about the method here).
💡 Why this is important: If you want to get out of the weeds and work on your business, not in it, you have to create spaciousness in your life to take a birds eye view and act with intention. And a mindfulness mediation is the perfect ritual to incorporate to help you do that.
